"Making Sure We Are Looked After When We Need Looking After!"

January 23, 2003

For our Wednesday, January 22, 2003, Luncheon meeting, the Speaker of the Day was Attorney Randy Wisnouse!
Randy had so much information for us that we were all taking notes and wondering the same thing. "Are we going to be taken care of when we need to be taken care of.

Mr. Wisnouse explained to us why we need to have a couple of documents drawn up before we are incopacitated and can't do it for ourselves. These documents are: A Power of Attorney and a Living Will! Randy told us why we need these things. We need to make sure that our Estate Planning is done. We have to have ourselves taken care of and we need to have our stuff taken care of. To make sure that these items are done, we need to assign someone as our Power of Attorney and that makes this person the one to make decisions on our behalf, should we become unable to do so ourselves. There are also 2 different types of POA. There is a Ready to Go (recommended)and a Springing POA. The difference is that the RTG takes effect immediately and the Springing one does not go into effect until needed. You should also have your Attorney keep the POA until it is needed, whatever type it is.
Power of Attorney is completely different than an Executor or Executrix of someones Estate.

Another important document is a Living Will. This tells everyone concerned what your intentions are involving Life Support. Organ Donor information should be included in this item.
And, last, but certainly not the least important is, your Last Will and Testament. This document will let everyone know what you want to go to whom. Whether your Estate large or small, this is one document that everyone should have!

Randy also passed out some information to us for how to cut out the credit card offers, how to report fraud, how to get a credit report and how to cut out all of those annoying telemarketers! What a Presentation! We were all so entranced that none of us realized that we ran out of time. If you need any of the information listed above, please contact Mr. Wisnouse at: 266-6300. He will be glad to help you!

Another Note! The details for the Pittsburgh Trip have all been finalized. If you need any information, call Charlotte Gartland at: 269-1234! She has done a great job in planning and making this easy for us! It is going to be "Swell Time". Hope that you all can make it.

It's also time to band together to help save the Chiefs. The Johnstown B2B Chapter has decided to make a night of it and go to a Chiefs game. We are going on Saturday, February 22. If you need any information on this event, you can contact Jason Kaplitz at: 534-0056 or Chris Stumpf at: 269-1907. We need to try and help keep them in Johnstown, so let's all go see the Chiefs.
